A strange pair of slippers under the bed of a young couple, Greg (Leon Ousby) and Ginny (Angela Johnson), leads to the suspicion that all is not quite right. When Ginny announces she is off for the weekend, visiting her parents in the country, Greg decides it is the opportune moment to follow her and ask her father for Ginny's hand in marriage.

The only trouble is, the ‘parents’ turn out to be her old boss, Philip (Steve Marrable), with whom Ginny has had an affair and his wife, Sheila (Nicola Bond). When Greg arrives at their home in the country before Ginny, the result is chaotic, ingenious and hilarious and involves some very strange misunderstandings indeed.

Alan Ayckbourn is one of England's most prolific and beloved playwrights, and this riotous farce of mistaken identity is full of his trademark zany wit. Written in 1967, this was Ayckbourn's first London hit and remains one of his best-loved works.
