Conrad Birdie, Elvis Presley-style singing star, is about to be conscripted into the US army and both his millions of female fans and his song-writer manager, Albert Peterson, are dismayed. Albert's secretary, Rose, however, is pleased. She thinks it would be wonderful if Albert leaves the music business and maybe marries her.
