THE SOUL MINER
presented by Indentity Theatre

Every man has his breaking point ...

'Once in a generation a mysterious wish for war passes through the people. Their instinct tells them that there is no other way of progress and of escape from the habits that no longer fit them.' - General Ian Hamilton, Allied Forces Gallipoli 1914.

The Soul Miner is a play about a returned soldier. Inspired by the WWI poetry of Owen and Sassoon, it looks at the story of Jim, a Gallipoli veteran, and the effect of war and the trauma of his memories. The Soul Miner is a powerful journey into the psyche of a man who reached his breaking point, and crossed over.

A one person play that draws on a multitude of styles including mime and magic realism.

Written and Performed by Ray Swann, Directed by Richard Sallis, Script Development and Direction by Andreas Litras
