Based on the best selling novel by Terry Pratchett, from the Discworld series adored by millions around the world, thee More Pork Players present the stage adaptation of Guards! Guards!
While other 20 something year olds are thinking of their exams or the start of the holiday season, thee More Pork Players are combining their love of theatre, fun and of course, sci fi fantasy geekdom to bring this popular story to the stage.
In a career spanning more than 25 novels, Terry Pratchett has grown a worldwide following for both himself and his Discworld creation. This is evidenced by his status as EnglandÂ’s second highest selling living author of ANY literary genre, behind J K Rowling. Australia has always been a huge market for Pratchett and readers display their passion whenever Terry makes one of his incredibly popular book signing tours.
Guards! Guards! is a play that, in the grand traditions of comedy, uses twists on an established genre – in this case the fantasy world of The Lord of the Rings and Dungeons & Dragons – to make satirical commentary on our real life world.
Revolving around a misfit band of City watchmen struggling to rid their city of a monarchistic fire-breathing dragon four unlikely heroes are thrust into the centre of a world of warring Guilds, a scheming (albeit incompetent) cult, and an eccentric dragon-loving noblewoman. Can these four social outcasts succeed against such impossible odds?
