Come travel the legendary Silk Road, and follow in Marco PoloÂ’s footsteps. Be enchanted by the romantic songs of gondoliers and the strange throat songs of Tibetan Monks, the delicate forms of Chinese Classical dance and sword tai chi, exotic middle Eastern dance, fierce Mongolian Combat and the hilarious masked street performers of Venice.
Directed by Annie Stainer, the promenade style event will use all the theatre, dance, music and circus skills the young students have been developing throughout the year at her School of Physical Theatre.
During the performance, the audience will move through the elegant Art Deco building of the Camelot Theatre at the Mosman Park Memorial Hall, the tranquil enclosed garden and surrounding parkland following the production as it traces Marco PoloÂ’s remarkable 13th century journey from Venice to China.
The Travels of Marco Polo builds on the success of 2002’s production, Labyrinth – A Cosmic Comedy – and sees the return of the beautiful voices of Eneksis Vocal Ensemble from the West Australian Academy of Performing Arts, and the delightful Cottage Children’s Choir
Last yearÂ’s production sold out and it is advisable to book at the Mosman Park Video on (08) 9384 5792. To add to the experience, tasty treats and beverages from Persia and China will be available during the interval.
