Starring Tiffany Barton as Penny, Roderick Cairns as Dave, Deanna Cooney as Jane,
Mark Storen as Ben
If the truth is so simple, why can life be so complicated?
Meet Dave – Dave is a top bloke. Dave and Jane are old friends. Jane is clever, enjoys working on cars and has recently returned from studying in Sydney. Wearing overalls and a beanie, Ben mistakes Jane for a male. Spotting an opportunity, Jane convinces Dave to play along and call her Jack.
Jane figures that disguised as a male she might reveal the inner workings of the male psyche, particularly BenÂ’s. Unbeknownst to him, Ben is the object of JaneÂ’s affection.
Dave has another agenda. He plans to use Jane to get to the crux of his own relationship troubles with his girlfriend, Penny. However, Penny becomes increasingly drawn to the mysterious, strangely sensitive Jack – who just seems to "understand" her. Ben, on the other hand, is not particularly impressed by Dave’s "new" friend or this alliance between Penny and Jack.
So what do men and women really want? The Simple Truth is a humorous exploration of gender stereotypes and the complications that arise between men and women.
Life may be simple, but love will always be complicated.
