“This is as good a cabaret show as you will see in Sydney this year”
(The Sydney Morning Herald – Back for Seconds)
In April and May of 2005, Tim Draxl made a return to cabaret for the first time in four years, presenting “Back For Seconds” at The El Rocco Room (Bar Me), one of Sydney's oldest establishments for jazz and cabaret. An historical venue, renowned for intimate and casual performances by the likes of Frank Sinatra and Sarah Vaughan.
Over four busy weeks, Tim sold out every show leaving audiences clamouring for more and critics reaching for new adjectives of praise. Now, Tim is back for a brief return season featuring mostly new material combined with some of the best moments from his last show.
In a salute to the great days of the Rat Pack, Tim will be joined for this strictly limited season of performances by special guest Matthew Newton, and will be accompanied by Michael Tyack on piano and Dave Ellis on double bass.
Most recently Tim has won new acclaim for his role in the Griffin Theatre Company production “Nailed”, while his new movie “Right Here Right Now” is soon to be released. Tim is also set to commence filming a five week featured guest role in the new Channel Seven television series, "Headland", which he will be working on simultaneously.
Tim starred in the critically acclaimed film “Swimming Upstream”, earned a Logie nomination for his role in the ABC TV series “Shark Net” and last year made his debut on the acting stage in Belvoir Street Theatre’s production of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”.
When Tim previously performed cabaret before his 2005 return, his shows were universally acclaimed in Australia and New York. In 2000 Tim won the MAC Award for "Best Male New York Debut" and during this period recorded two CDs for SONY.
“Back For Seconds” sold out its initial season and was twice extended - Tim’s first show in four years gaining extensive public interest and phenomenal audience response. Tim Draxl Live @ El Rocco is a strictly limited season and is expected to elicit much interest.
“The artistry of this young man is amazing” - The Age (Melbourne)
“Fresh, winning, sincere and spirited” - New York Post
“a generous helping of candour and charm” - Sydney Morning Herald.
“… a genuine star in the making” – Sydney Morning Herald
