...and the theatre company director said: IÂ’m bored. I want to do something innovative, something inspiring, something exciting and exhilarating, something challenging.
I want to feel my blood pumping and my adrenaline rushing.
EUREKA, IÂ’VE GOT IT! WeÂ’ll create...
A Play In A Day
We all know theatre isnÂ’t meant to be safe Â… but hell!! Now HATS wants to do it all in one day!
The title says it all: A show written, cast, rehearsed and produced in just 24 hours.
We need writers, actors and directors.
Do you think youÂ’re up for it? Just for the challenge and the love of it?
If youÂ’d like to get involved then contact the co-ordinator, Sheona Paxman, on (03) 9873 8487 or forward your expression of interest to her via email at: davidpaxman@optusnet.com.au
putting “A Play In A Day” in the subject line.
(We just need a short blurb about your theatre
experience to have an idea if you could go the distance!)
The deadline is 17 January 2003, because it all happens in the 24 hours 10pm 14 February to 10pm 15 February 2003.
This is HATS Theatre CompanyÂ’s 20th anniversary, and weÂ’re still delivering what no other company can deliver. This time around, itÂ’s A Play in a Day, which, as the title suggests, means putting a whole show on in 24 hours.
The idea is simple. The company pits teams of actors, writers and directors against the clock in a mad race to deliver a show within 24 hours. The idea came from New York, where the 24 Hour Play show has been put on since 1995. This yearÂ’s show alone included A-list actors Billy Crudup, Rosie Perez, Marisa Tomei, Lili Taylor, Brooke Shields, Fisher Stevens, Liev Schreiber, Jesse L. Martin, Kate Burton and Jennifer Esposito.
This show will offer audiences the chance to experience raw theatre: fast, funny and without any pretensions whatsoever. It should be a great night out.
