RUBY' LAST DOLLAR

Starring Jacki Weaver as Ruby

Ruby Constance is a regular fixture at her local RSL Club. There, like yesterday’s rose, she seems a faded, forlorn figure, sitting day-in, day-out with her best friend, the ‘Dancing Girl’ (her favourite poker machine), reminiscing about an Australia now only found in history books: the iconic dancing man in Sydney’s George Street at the end of the Second World War, the radio shows of the Forties and her career as a dancer on the Tivoli circuit in the Fifties and Sixties. As for the present – it’s a time Ruby is doing everything she can to forget.

In her gilded, gutter life amidst the bright lights and dark shadows of Inner Sydney, Ruby Constance has seen it all. And does she have some stories to tell! So as the curtain gets set to fall on the colourful, larger-than-life drama that has been her life, Ruby Constance – dancer, gambler and eternal optimist – prepares to sacrifice her final coin to the Dancing Girl.

What does that cruel mistress Fate have in store for her now?

From the creative team which brought you the hugely successful and multi-award winning play Last Cab to Darwin, RubyÂ’s Last Dollar is a heart-warming tale from the eccentric heartland of Aussie suburbia. Starring the vivacious Jacki Weaver and featuring David James, Alan Dukes, Kirstie Hutton, George Shevtsov, Michael Tuahine and Kate Mulvany Â… donÂ’t miss this postcard from a contemporary Australia at once exotic and yet strangely familiarÂ…

ITÂ’S A JACKPOT OF SERIOUSLY WICKED BLACK COMEDY!
