Kucom Theatre had originally planned to open 'What The Butler Saw' in Mackay on June 21, but circumstances beyond their control led to a postponement of the season.
Instead, what was to be a follow-up performance to that planned season, became the opening night, when it was performed by Kucom Theatre at Clermont, Qld. on Saturday, July 6.
"We (Kucom Theatre) were approached by the Isolated Children Parent's Association (a charity organisation based in Clermont) to perform this play in Theatre Restaurant format to raise money for their organisation," said Jim Kelly, the Director and also performer on the night (he played Dr Rance).
"And the audience of around 200 people were highly responsiveÂ…they just loved it!
"The actors were brilliantÂ…magnificent, and it was so well received that they want us back again next year.
'It augurs well for the opening (of the season) in Mackay."
This great Comedy/Sex Farce will star Petar Grulovic as Dr Prentice, Maria Porter as Mrs Prentice, Marie Galea as Geraldine Barclay, John Atkinson as Sgt Match, George Christensen as Dr Rance and Nick Fitzpatrick as Nicholas Beckett.
The story centres around the private practice of one Dr Prentice, a psychiatrist who, in his own lustful way, attempts to seduce young Geraldine, who is undergoing a 'job interview' for the position of his secretary.
Complications arise, somewhat in number and in variety, when Mrs Prentice arrives unexpectedly.
It then transpires that Mrs Prentice is being blackmailed by one Nicholas Beckett, her seducer.
She further complicates the situation (if that's possible) by promising Nick the secretarial job in question.
The plot thickens even further when the government inspector, Dr Rance, brings to light the true madness behind Dr Prentice's clinic.
If this is not nearly enough, Sgt Match is also busy conducting a search for two unusual offenders, with this search made even harder (or crazier) by the efforts of Mrs Prentice.
The audience will be presented with nudity, gender role reversals, drugs and guns, and then the inevitable twisted ending
"They (the audience) can expect a mixture of laughter, semi-nudity and simply lots of fun," said Jim Kelly.
'What The Butler Saw' will now be seen at the Kucom Theatre Complex in Shakespeare Street, Mackay, on Friday, August 2; and Saturday, August 3, with both shows commencing at 8pm.
Bookings are open at the Mackay Entertainment Centre on Tel. 4957 1777.
