For John Ellis and Amanda Hodder, recording and releasing their debut CD "New Habits" has been a year long journey. "While we were only in the recording studio for a week or so, we have been working on some of this material since Amanda and I first worked together professionally @ the 2001 Sydney Cabaret Convention".
John a graduate of the burgeoning music theatre degree @ the University of Ballarat, and Amanda a Graduate from the Tasmanian Conservatorium of Music, first met when Amanda was on staff at {BAPA} while John was still a student.
Their first show together "Just a Rainy Day or Two" was a tribute to the work of some of the fineist cabaret Composers in both New York and in deed right here in Australia. Bucchino, Anderson, Carnelia, Guettel and many more, all of whome John is in contact with, and takes great comfort in the fact that these composers are sending him music to perform to Australian audiences.
The Current show "New Habits" uses a few songs previously performed, alongside old favourites that will set everybody's toes a-tappin.
John will be joining the cast of the Wizard of Oz in the upcoming Melbourne season, starting here in June at the Regent theatre.
Their album will be sold after the show, in slected stores and on-line through Middle Eight Music. www.middle8.com.
