Why has Sophocles' classic survived for so long? Essentially, because it is a document of the human condition. It is as relevant to today's audience as it was to the classical Greeks in 431 BC. In this production, Antigone is set in contemporary times in the presidential offices of Creon, newly proclaimed ruler of Thebes. Antigone, his niece, clashes with the dictatorial style of the new ruler and the result is, inevitably, tragedy for all associated.
