The Cube Collective is an exploration of the individual, within the contemporary global environment.

Using verbatim text from interviews with the company, as well as dramatised scenarios, The Cube
Collective explores the concept of individualism through a broad spectrum of voices. The content has been workshopped and developed by members of Young Actors Company Queensland in rehearsal.

The play questions the impact that globalisation could have on an individual level. It also questions the impact the individual is having on a global level, exploring the connections we have to the larger global community.

As individuals we have an inherent interest in other cultures/religions and communities, which is fuelled by current developments in communication, increased travel, and improved access to new media ( i.e. internet/ Satellite television). Cultures and traditions of other communities, are no longer so different as our exposure increases.

How do we maintain individuality in the face of these globalising forces that eliminate difference?
In an increasingly global world it seems more hip to be square.
