And the winner is.....
Mon, 23 Aug 1999, 05:06 pmHi all!Isn't it amazing what the prospect of a prize can do ?? :)The Winner of the "Who's Mis-spent Far Too Much of Their Youth Watching Dr Who" Award goes to...Grant Malcolm!!(thunderous applause, tumultuous theme music, which stops abruptly, letting Grant say his piece, until he starts babbling, upon which the orchestra strikes up loudly, bu subtly, preventing him from being heard)This wasn't rigged (Hehe), as Grant's response was the first I saw.The Prize is the Knowledge that my birthplace (Redhill General Hospital, Surrey UK) was the location for many of the interior scenes of various episodes of Dr Who from 1973-1978.El

A youth mispent? Possibly, but I do have a lot to thank the Doctor for ("splendid fellow, all of them") - my interest in the Performing Arts for one, and a diabolically annoying way of diverting serious conversations and e-mail discussions...It's given Jodi Cant something to write about in plays too...("WHO ARE YOU? WHY ARE YOU HERE?")I believe many people have alot to thank the series for in terms of giving them the inspiration to be unfettered by the boundaries of time and space, consider bizarre possibilities like dematerialsing police boxes, and malevolent pepper-pots, and giving alot of new, young writers, directors, designers, musicians and actors a place in which to further their trade. And...it's just so much FUN, inspite of the low budgets, B-Grade villians etc...I must have a chat to you about that hospital - they've got a lot to answer for...Got any pickies of Who sets? Now, give me a really hard Who question to answer...The Master
