What Goes Round...
Monday 7 September 2009
I can picture my old (well almost immediate past) drama teacher, coughing on her currant cake and tut tutting me, as I mention - Theatre Restaurant.
"Oh! the pain, I hear her say. No! No! A thousand times no. This is not theatre. It is..." (comments withheld)
After a two decade layoff from any form of theatre, I decided to return to the fold and as luck would have it, scored a role in the Bathurst Theatre Company's - Asparagus. Bill Blaikie in the director's chair.
Whoops! bug has bitten. Now I want more. For years I eschewed any desire to go before a camera - preferring my other entertainment love - radio.
Now the wheel has turned and I'm back on stage rehearsing for a theatre restaurnat production of Lock up Your Jewels. This little gem, to be performed late November early December is a parody on Arabian Nights, full of fun, song, dances (yes, I do that too) Producers of Dancing with The Stars - please forget I said that.... and of course, basic bawdyness.
The last time I played that genre was in the late seventies.
Oh! film. Can't believe a producer albeit a student, wants little ol' me in his production No big deal. No pay. What tjhe heck. This student is going to be a full-blown producer anytime soon and hopefully, he'll remember those who helped him upwards.
The wheel has turned. I can now use my love of comedy and art of coarse acting and score a freebie meal in the Film TV extras fraternity. :-)
Yup! I love it and regret ever leaving it.
