Round two

Sunday 20 August 2006

A week later and it's time for round two of the auditions. Or, at least, the seond group of auditions.

Earlier in the week, with the second week of auditions filling fast, we booked Monday 21 August in the Dolphin so that we could accommodate some of the additional interest in auditioning.

I've been back over last week's auditionees several times to keep them fresh in my mind. There were a few people I was confident I wouldn't be needing and I called them earlier in the week. With 40+ auditioning it's clear I'm not going to be casting everyone and I'd prefer to let people know sooner rather than later.

Last week's auditions were great - thank you Mr Nowra! Arrived at the theatre and let myself in with a borrowed key. The door slammed shut behind me and the place was pitch black. I fumbled about in the dark for the light switch - had something of an advantage over Lewis, as I'd been in the venue before and knew where it was. Got the lights on fully expecting to hear the crash of broken glass as Roy forced his way in. Just one of those moments probably shared by most directors setting out to direct Cosi.

Have added breakfast and family to checklist.
