KWINANA Industries Council will partner with Koorliny Arts Centre for the centre’s 2013 performance season, in a move tipped to further boost the profile of Kwinana.
The partnership was formally announced at the season launch, which was held at the arts centre on May 25 for more than 200 people.
Kwinana Industries Council director Chris Oughton said the partnership aimed to boost the profile of performing arts in Kwinana and help the centre make its mark as an artistic hub in Perth.
“Koorliny Arts Centre is often described as a hidden treasure, especially by first-time visitors, but we share the centre’s belief that its 2013 season will make it a well-regarded spot on the map for theatre in Perth,” he said.
He said the partnership demonstrated Kwinana Industries Council’s ongoing commitment to the Kwinana community.
“Kwinana Industries Council is pleased to support Koorliny Arts Centre because we believe it provides broad benefits to a significant section of the local community,” he said.
“By partnering with Koorliny Arts Centre, we are supporting its ongoing efforts to provide a range of activities, including, but not limited to theatrical productions.”
Guests at the launch were treated to highlights from the shows planned for 2013, which will include The Sound of Music, Eurobeat – Almost Eurovision,The Wizard of Oz, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.
Centre manager Ryan Taaffe said the launch was a big success and he was excited by the range of shows lined up.
“There is something for everyone, from well-known and much-loved musicals to the more offbeat musical comedy like Eurobeat,” he said.
“While the launch provided a way to present the upcoming production season and put the centre under the spotlight, it will also usher in a new phase in the centre’s future.”
Mr Taaffe said the Weekend/Kwinana Courier had also come on board as an associate partner.
