Blackbox - right or wrong choice?

Hi all. I'm new to the site, and have just been signed on by Blackbox Management. I've read a lot of bad comments about them, so obviously I'm in a bit of a crisis - do I stick it out and see how I go, or should I look into different agencies? I found the position on Seek.com. I registered my interest and was contacted the next day by the casting manager, by phone, which to me is a good sign. I was immediately sent an official application form, which I filled out and returned ASAP. And finally I was contacted this morning (again by the casting manager, and over the phone) to be told that they definitely want me to sign on with them. I was given the number to have a professional photo shoot done, and to have a website set up for me, and was informed that this would cost me $195. After that, they require 10% of earnings from work they find me. I was stoked to have found a position so quickly, and excited at the prospect of finally getting myself into the industry, but it only occurred to me this afternoon that I should do a background check, and the comments I've been reading have got me a little worried. Have I made the wrong choice?? If anyone with advice could please let me know how to proceed, that would be excellent!
