House of Fun! AUDITIONS
Fish in a Vortex Productions & The Blue Room Theatre
Saturday 5 June 2010
A new, collaborative theatre project by Fish in a Vortex Productions, in association with the Blue Room Theatre.
Blue Room Theatre Season 3 – 20 November 2010
House of Fun! is a comic yet dark look into the lives of four house mates. Recently developed as part of The Blue Room Theatre’s Early Stages Development Program, the play explores real life stories about the petty conflicts and conundrums that emerge when sharing a household.
CHARACTERS:
GEMMA: (18-30 years old)
An aspiring actor who is addicted to the virtual world. She has quite an elitist attitude when it comes to her chosen craft and hobbies and can often be a major drag to be around. She has a nasty habit of occupying communal household space, spending day after day on her laptop on social networking sites. Gemma tends to be argumentative and uncooperative if someone or something tries to block her intended course. She can often get her way by revealing a more charming and innocent side, which partly makes up for her downfalls.
ANGELA: (18-30 years old)
The Queen-bee of the household who studies psychology at University. She is articulate
and can use her quicksilver mind and words to harm/help others however she sees fit.
Angela is prone to stress and anxiety. This can sometimes drive her to be unreasonable
about the set up of the household. She uses her sexuality to get what she wants.
QUENTIN: (18-30 years old)
A true freeloader with no life plan or direction. Somehow manages to find a place in the
house without paying rent or having a job. Quentin can appear very slick and always
speaks like he’s the expert on everything he talks about (which he isn’t). Quentin is
incredibly slimy and appears very mysterious. His charismatic nature can make him quite
loveable. However, he is ultimately a self-centred person but is able to convince the other housemates he is anything but.
