Johnny Grim's 'Stairway to Heaven' at Dramafest '08...on Youtube!

Monday 7 December 2009

Sorry to drag this up after so long, but some little bird (actually a fairly largish one) has just put the video of this performance onto Youtube for all the world to see (gee...thanks mate) and, although I don't know how to provide links, those who've never seen an example of Mr Grim's work shouldn't have too much difficulty in finding it...if they're interested, of course!

I found myself today revisiting the thread posted by that same fairly largish bird, here on this web site, about lessons learned from that performance (knowing your lines, thoroughly checking costumes and ensuring that you're singing in the right key, for example), and am wondering how many other of my community theatre peers are in possession of videos that they profoundly wish had been filmed on another occasion? Perhaps another occasion on which everything worked exactly as it should have done...?

Oh well, in this case it's too late to worry about the missed lines, the wardrobe malfunctions and the bad singing...the deed is done and the whole world can witness it on their computer screens now! Do I mind? No, not really. It really wasn't that bad!

Have a look at it if you can spare half an hour. Just type 'Stairway to Heaven, Johnny Grim' into your Google-box and Bob's your uncle.

By the way, the question was asked about whether Mr Grim asked for permission from Led Zeppelin to use their song title. Mr Grim says that he tried to, but they wouldn't answer the telephone. What I want to know is; did Led Zeppelin ask Neil Sedaka for permission?

Cheers all!
