Synopsis
This is a true story about the first women strikers in England. Set in 1888, it is a story of the women who worked in a match-making factory, where their job was to dip the heads of the matchsticks in Phosphorus. The phosphorus was a deadly chemical that used to attack the bones of the body but was first evident in the mouth where the girls used to get something called Phossy Jaw, which ate away the jaw bone.
It is a story of determination, equality &, of course, there has to be a love element. Set in London the girls are helped by a journalist to get their working conditions improved.
There is a strong cockney style about the show. It is generally a happy show, but has a strong message to deliver.
