An amazing comedy that is viewed through the eyes of a director hired by the social work department, Set in an Melbourne mental institution in 1971, Cosi explores a life lesson for Lewis, a young director who takes on the task of producing a play with the patients who live there. As his life is touched by these extraordinary people and his operatic production (Cosi Fan Tutte) lurches forward, we learn, along with Lewis, “that when chasing your dreams it helps to be a little crazy”.

CHARACTERS

Lewis - a recent college grad who gets hired to direct a play at an asylum (Aged 21)

Roy - a patient with a passion for theatre sees a chance to finally realise his dream of performing Mozart's opera Cosí Fan Tutte. Julie – a blissed-out drug addict in an institution for the first time (Aged 21-25)

Cherry - an overly sexual and overly maternal woman (Aged 25-35)

Henry – a former lawyer who is now a patient. Like Roy, he has spent much of his time in institutions (Aged 40-50)

Doug – a pyromaniac (Aged 20-30)

Zac – a pharmaceutically inclined musician. Must be able to play the piano (Aged 25-30)

Ruth – an obsessive personality who takes reality far to seriously (Aged 30-40)

Nick – Lewis’ friend who also directs student plays (aged 21-24)

Lucy – Lewis’ girlfriend (aged 20)

Justin – a neat and precise social worker (aged 30-40)
