This is an original updated pantomime based on the fable of sleeping beauty. The heroine is Barbie (doll) Princess and daughter of the King and Queen of Achoo. There are various courtiers and fairies and a mime (Dicky the dog). The hero is Prince Ken and the narrator and Dame is Fifi , maid in waiting to the Queen. The evil fairy is a caricature of a well known Australian personality. This evil fairy casts a wicked spell over Barbie when she is christened , so that Barbie will die when she pricks her finger on a spindle.. However, the King bans spindles and Fairy Pink commutes the spell to sleeping for a hundred years instead. Barbie meets Ken , they fall in love and naturally the evil fairy has her way and Barbie falls asleep only to be wakened by the kiss of a handsome prince. After battling the dragon and forest Prince Ken wakens Barbie and all live happily ever after (except the wicked fairy of course!)

Contains lots of modern songs (Barbie Girl, I Should Be So Lucky, Sister are DoinÂ’ it for Themselves, Unchained Melody etc) and should be good fun.
