The story is set in the 1940ies in New York and seen through the eyes of two teenage boys, sent to live with their forbidding grandmother whilst their widowed father seeks work in South America. In Yonkers the boys meet a cast of eccentric relations including unconventional aunt Bella and shady uncle Louie, the family's black sheep. This play is full of laughs and tears and really does prove that magic can happen anywhere.
