'TAINTED LOVE' The Phoenix Theatre

In August / September 2012, The Phoenix theare will present the debut of Johnny Grim's new comedy drama, 'Tainted Love.' THE TALE: Inspired by the likes of ‘Shirley Valentine,’ ‘Educating Rita,’ Johnny Grim’s new play tells a story of four, middle-aged, ‘working class’ girls from the north of England. One of the four (Julie) has invited her long-time friends (Sheila, Carol and Vanessa), over to her house, on the pretence of showing off her husband’s recently installed gazebo. Unbeknown to her closest of friends, Julie has far more tantalising news to share. We join the girls as they arrive at Julie’s ‘lovely posh ouse’...and we get to eavesdrop in on ‘all the goss,’ and to top it off, we get to hear first hand, Julie’s, ‘you could have knocked me over with with a bloody feather’ news. PERFORMANCE DATES 23/24/25/26/30/31 August & 1/2 September 2012 CAST MEMBERS Julie: Age 51. Slim / average build, well to do look about her. Working class girl made good. Vanessa: Age 51. Slim, attractive... Carol: Age 51. Average build, working class to the core. Sharp of wit, calls a spade a spade. Sheila: Age 51. Average working class single mother of her vintage. In answer to the question 'do I have to be 51 to play the part', the answer is no...suitable for those around 45-55. In addition, you don't HAVE to be from the north of England to audition. Note: Rehearsals will be set down for Tuesday evenings, and a yet to be determined weekend timeslot. Rehearsals to be held in Rivervale, and later Hamilton Hill, (can be subject to change pending location of actors home base.)
