Who Killed Candy Sweetness is a murder mystery, set in a radio-ballroom in the late 1930's. We will be fitting out the octagonal room at the Maylands Peninsula Sports & Rec Centre to look as authentic as possible. The Peninsula Ballroom is the home of Smoothy McGroovy and his orchestra, who are broadcast on Radio WRX and affiliated stations. They are welcoming Candy Sweetness back after her tour of the states. But Candy is found dead. Murdered. From the audience, Detective Robert Soxx jumps up, locks the place down and commences investigating the crime, ably assisted by Hilda Helgenbrauer, who has been brought out for a fancy dinner by her boss, Lonegan Megabucks, who has wicked intentions towards her... So, who killed Candy? Was it Smoothy? Or Lonegan? Could it have been Laila Witmie, Candy's understudy? Perhaps one of the singing Schless sisters - Bess, Tess or Jess? Could it have been the long suffering stage manager, Andy Feller? Or Diggs & Shadowbolt - the irreverent, drinking and gambling comedy duo? Could it have been one of the waiters? Or the Maitre d? Or even the chef? Audience members will find themselves caught up in the investigation, and may even find themselves a suspect, in this dinner-theatre production. Actors will be required to commit some time to set building or painting, costuming, bump in and out, dishwashing, food prep etc. as needed - as this is a profit-share production, everyone will need to pitch in!
