Stirling Players presents Face to Face by David Williamson Directed by Brendan Ellis From Australia's most acclaimed playwright, David Williamson, a moving and powerful play about lies, betrayal, sex and bullying in the workplace. A young construction worker rams into the back of his boss's Mercedes in a fit of anger at being sacked. Rather than fronting court, he's given the chance to explain his actions in a community conference. This face-to-face confrontation between the young man, his boss, his boss's wife, co-workers, best mate and mother lifts the lid not only on his dysfunctional life but on their workplace dirty laundry, turning all of their lives upside down. Strong actors needed for a character-driven ensemble piece. Although some roles are larger than others, all characters are on stage throughout the play and have scenes where they feature. Reading: 11 February from 2pm-4pm Audition: 18 February from 9am-2.30pm, by appointment only Rehearsals start the week after the audition and run through to the performance season. Performance season runs May 11, 12, 13 (matinee), 17, 18, 19, 20 (matinee), 24, 25, 26 at Stirling Theatre, Morris Place, Innaloo. Characters: Jack Manning: Late 20s-mid 40s. Community conference convener, he tries to steer the conversations over the issue and attempts to bring it to a happy conclusion. Intelligent, discerning, skilled and experienced. Glen Tragaskis: 20-30. Assaulted his boss after being fired. Childish and gullible, a slow thinker with a short temper. Maureen Tragaskis: Late 40s-50s. Glen's single mother. Emotional, anxious, and over-protective of Glen. Barry Mclean: 20-30. Glen’s childhood friend. Short tempered and quick to stand up for Glen. Rough around the edges. Greg Baldoni: 50s-60s. Owner and manager of Glen’s workplace, Baldoni Exhibition Constructions. Stubborn and egotistical. Claire Baldoni: early 50s. Greg’s wife. Somewhat bitter, but does her best to stand by her husband. Richard Halligan: 40-60. The foreman at Baldoni’s. Kind-natured but worn down by the rough nature of the workplace. Luka Mitrovic: 25-35. Initially presented as the bully at Baldoni’s. Fierce, but also vulnerable. Ethnic. Julie Rossiter: 20s-30s. Greg’s personal assistant at Baldoni constructions. Attractive and flirty. Therese Martin: 25-45. Greg’s accountant. Timid and mousy, feels out of place at Baldoni’s. NB: Note that ages given are stage ages only, though they are dependent on character matchups.
