SWEET CHARITY

The Regals are proud to announce their May 2011 show: SWEET CHARITY Charity Hope Valentine, a young New Yorker, is the eternal optimist. While working at the seedy Fan-Dango ballroom, as a dance hall hostess, she is often taken advantage of and continually experiences bad relationships. She has few prospects in life but always dreams that there is something better in store for her. Tired of her disreputable, difficult existence, Charity decides to fulfil her desires and goes to an employment agency to find a respectable job. Although her efforts lead only to humiliation, she seems to have met a decent fellow in Oscar. Trying to hide her true profession, she lies to him and tells him that she works in a bank. Soon, Oscar asks Charity to marry him. Unfortunately, Oscar discovers Charity's real profession and backs out of the marriage. Nevertheless, Charity continues to remain hopeful that good things will happen in her life. AUDITION INFORMATION All characters will be required to dance at some point during the show; therefore all auditionees will be required to attend this component. There is an hour dedicated to the Dance auditions. The first 30mins will be spent teaching and revising the choreography, with the final 30mins used to audition members in groups of 5. All female roles will dance in chorus shoes, so please wear these for your audition. If you don’t own a pair of chorus shoes, jazz/ballet shoes will be accepted. Please no bare feet or socks! Saturday Men - Those singing between 12:00pm - 12:45pm and 2:00pm - 2:45pm will be dancing at 1:00pm - 2:00pm. - Those singing between 3:00pm - 3:45pm and 5:00pm - 5:45pm are dancing at 4:00pm - 5:00pm. Sunday Woman - Those singing between 9:00am - 9:45am and 11:00am - 11:45am are dancing at 10:00am - 11:00am. - Those singing between 1:00pm - 1:45pm and 3:00pm - 3:45pm are dancing at 2:00pm - 3:00pm. - Those singing between 4:00pm - 4:45pm are dancing at 5:00pm – 6:00pm
