Boston Marriage

Auditions to be held on 14th January 2012, with possible callbacks on 15th January.  Venue is Roleystone Theatre.

Synopsis: Set in the America of the very early 20th century.  Anna and Claire are two bantering, scheming 'women of fashion' who have lived together on the fringes of upper-class society.  Anna has just become the mistress of a wealthy man, from whom she has received an enormous emerald and an income to match.  Claire, meanwhile, is infatuated with a respectable young lady and wants to enlist the jealous Anna's help for an assignation.  As the two women exchange barbs and take turns in tormenting Anna's hapless parlour maid, Claire's young inamorata suddenly appears, setting off a crisis that put both the valuable emerald and the women's futures at risk.  A sharp and fast paced comedy that bristle with an almost wildean wit, "Boston Marriage" is a treat for the audience and tour-de-force for three exceptional actors.

Roles:

Anna (early 30s-late 40s) and Claire (early 30s-late 40s) - the two "women of fashion" mentioned above.  Very close friends from the days of their youth.  Both are cultured, fiercely intelligent and as "posh" as Americans get.

Catherine (17-25) - Anna's Scottish maid, the target of many insults and butt of many jokes, but strong-willed.  Edinburgh accent a necessity.

Note: Final tech rehearsals will take place over the Easter holidays - those cast will need to be available for this period.
