The Story:
Honk if you've ever been an ugly duckling.
If that sentiment was made into a bumper sticker, chances are Perth would be a pretty noisy place.
Though most people can relate to Hans Christian Andersen's classic tale of "The Ugly Duckling," Ugly struggles to find his inner beauty within a gaggle of mostly "fowl" characters, like barnyard geese, ducks, crows, peacocks - even a bluejay - as they scorn the plain and gangly youngster.
The show, first hatched by British songwriters Anthony Drewe and George Stiles in 1993 as "The Ugly Duckling" or "The Aesthetically Challenged Barnyard Fowl," won the 2000 Olivier Award for Best Musical.
"Honk!" spans the generations, delivering the message to 5 million people in more than 3000 productions around the world that being different is OK.
