Bullshot Crummond is a rollicking comedy which sends up the 1920’s / 30’s action adventure books and movies of that “terribly” British detective – “Bulldog Drummond”. The heroes are “frightfully” good and the villains are “dreadfully” evil.
The play was an instant success when it opened in London in the late seventies and within a few years it had conquered both LondonÂ’s West End and New Yorks Broadway. By the early eighties it had been turned into a major film and by the mid eighties it had become one of the most successful plays of all times.
Action, adventure, mystery, intrigue and romance hurtle hand in hand with aeroplanes, automobiles and incredible contraptions in a plot that is more complicated than the GST.
The cast and the production team of the Suncoast Repertory Theatre who is staging this production is outstanding. For the statistically minded together they can boast over sixty individual theatrical awards during the last six years.
Suncoast Repertory Theatre Inc was formed in mid 2003 by Simon Denver, Bernard Bisshop & Joy Marshall. It is a professional theatre that works primarily on the Sunshine Coast. Since its inception Simon Denver has been the Artistic Director for the company.
Simon needs no introduction to many schools in Australia. His musical Man of Steel has become the most performed play / musical in AustraliaÂ’s history. In fact, according to University studies, he has five out of the top ten performed plays in Australia.
Simon is also a director. He has directed both amateur and professional groups including the premiere productions of Gumshoe, The Three Musketeers and The Circus. He has not been confined to just music or comedy in these endeavours.. He is also a multi award winning director, actor and writer for his dramatic and fusion works.
