CONFUSIONS

Confusions is a set of five interlinked one act plays intended for a minimum cast of 3 men and 2 women. Each play deals with human eccentricities & the human dilemma of loneliness. Act One Theatre have elected to produce three of these delightful little plays for their next production. Play 1 deals with a mother unable to escape from baby talk. Play 2 a very funny dinner encounter, and Play 3 a disastrous village fete.
The plays can be done with three different casts and three different directors if necessary.

Play 1: Mother Figure
Lucy is so wrapped up in her role as a Mother to her three children that she is unable to relate to the world outside her home. Rosemary & Terry her next door neighbours are worried that they haven't seen her for a while and pop
in to check that she is alright. They are treated like children by Lucy.
Cast: Lucy (the mother) - early 30s; Rosemary (next door neighbour) - 25 - 30yrs; Terry (Rosemary's husband)

Play 2: Between Mouthfuls
Two couples are dining at an hotel. The dialogue is linked by the waiter who glides between the two tables while
the couples.
Cast: Waiter - 40s; Pearce (councillor) pompous - 40-50yrs; Mrs. Pearce - 40-50yrs; Martin - 30s; Polly

Play 3: Gosforth's Fete
A village fete has been organised, or maybe 'disorganised'  Everything goes wrong from the weather to the tap
on the tea urn getting on the 'ON' position with disatrous results.
Cast: Arthur - 30s; Beryl - 20s; Gosforth - 30s; Vicar - 50-60; Stewart - 30s
 
All auditions will be held on Sunday, 18th October, at Act 1 Theatre, Old Pine Shire Hall, Gympie Road, Strathpine,
commencing at  2.00pm.
Rehearsal evenings will be Tuesdays and Thursdays commencing on 20th October.
Performance dates will be Friday, 27th November; Saturday, 28th November; Sunday, 29th November (afternoon); Friday, 4th December; Saturday, 5th December.
Please note that Act 1 does not use understudies or prompts for their shows.
