All auditionees need to prepare two contrasting songs...one ballad and one up-tempo. Only be prepared to sing one though. There will be NO PIANO at these auditions. Backing tracks or acapella singing only. Please wear comfortable clothing as you may be required to do a small dance piece. We also could ask you to do other things, so just be prepared for the unexpectedÂ…after all, thatÂ’s what a pantomime is about.

Please remember...the direction team want to see what you can do, so this is your opportunity to show us. There is no reason to be nervous.

Please enter via the back door for all auditions and callbacks. Please arrive 15 minutes before your time so you can fill in the audition form and take a look at some parts to read.

To book an audition time, please call Judy Blazely AFTER October 1st on 9398 3829. These are by appointment only. Please leave a clear message on the answering machine with your full name, age, and a contact phone number.

Ages are simply guidelines for roles as to maturity, complexity and look of the character. All roles require audience interaction, however some much more than others. These are specified in the descriptions.

Songs for each character follow the description, in the brackets, using the following legend:
M=Main singer S=Secondary singer E=Ensemble & company numbers

Character Descriptions

Court Jester (the narrator) - 16+
Te most challenging role as most of the dialogue is performed directly to the audience. This role requires strong ad-lib skills and the ability to have an audience warm to them. (Mx1, Ex2)

Robin Hood (the hero) - 16+
Once again, quite a bit of audience participation. Robin is a man with flair and dignity but is also very difficult, often throwing a tantrum if he doesnÂ’t get his own way. (Mx2, Sx2, Ex2)

Sheriff Of Nottingham (the henchman) - 16+
Needs to be very strong with ad-lib as he has a fair bit of audience interaction. Sheriff in the true sense of the word (think Wild West). Thinks he is dashing and debonair but is really nothing more than a big cry baby. (Sx1, Ex2)

Evil King John (the baddie) - 16+
Pure evil and a dominating character...until his wife is around, where he becomes a timid little mouse. Elvis impersonation required. (Mx1, Ex2)

Maid Marian (the love interest) - 16+
Needs to be very strong with ad-lib as she has a fair bit of audience interaction. In love with Robin. A silly woman who always finds herself in stupid situations she canÂ’t get out of. (Mx2, Ex1)

Marlene the Sorceress (the witch) - 16+
Needs to be very strong with ad-lib as she has a fair bit of audience interaction. The one anyone turns to when in need of a spell or potion, but is always looking for a chance to show off. (Mx2, Ex2)

Queen (a wife) – 15+
King JohnÂ’s wife. She is a domineering woman who has a great love for Tupperware, shopping and credit cards. (Ex2)

William Tell (a famous archer) - 14+
Requires strong ad-lib skills. The famous archer who shoots apples from his sonÂ’s head. RobinÂ’s competition at the Medieval Fair Archery Contest. Swedish accent. (Mx1, Ex2)

Clien Tell (his daughter) - Open Age
Very know-it-all little girl. Swedish accent. (Mx1, Ex2)

Fairy Woodmother (the panto fairy) - 15+
A very important woman. Handles a very heavy caseload of clients so doesnÂ’t have much time. Articulate and immaculately presented. (Mx1)

THE MERRY MEN - 14+
Alan A'Dale
Alan is the most loyal to Robin and really looks up to him. (Mx1, Sx3, Ex2)
Little John
Little John is like a big kid, but preferably is a big man. (Mx1, Sx3, Ex2)
Friar Tuck
The Friar would be preferably a larger build person. He is honest, and always eating. (Mx2, Sx3, Ex2)
Will Scarlet
Will is RobinÂ’s right hand man and is quite popular with the ladies. (Mx2, Sx3, Ex2)

THE GREENIES
Ivy, Pansy, Rose, Bluebell, Lily - 14+
Dedicated to preservation of the forest and determined to stop King JohnÂ’s logging of Sherwood. (Mx1, Sx1, Ex2)

THE LADY BOWLERS
Prunella, Gladys, Phyllis, Gertie - 14+
Ladies in there later part of life, who love nothing than a cup of tea and a game of lawn bowls. Leaders of the revolution against King JohnÂ’s out of control taxation department. (Mx1, Ex1)

Good King Richard (the real king) - 15+
Very full of himself man who is very good to the villagers. (Ex1)

There are a variety of villagers and other smaller parts available. These will be cast from the auditionees who we cast as the ensemble. This will be approximately 8-10 people who will be required to dance and sing. All open ages.
