Film Synopsis
One Liner:
Dillan MacIntosh is an ordinary kid with an extraordinary dream to play professional Australian Rules football. The only problem is…Dillan MacIntosh is a girl.
Actor Requirements
Dillan MacIntosh
Sex: Female
Role: Protagonist
Age Range: 15-20 years (must look 17 yrs)
Other: Athletic, preferably can play Aussie Rules Football or a similar ball sport
Breakdown: Dillan is a down-to-earth free spirit; passionate, driven, witty and unsatisfied with mediocrity. She has struggled with being an outcast all her life. Growing up in rural centres of Victoria and being brought up within single parent family consisting of a father and two brothers, she finds it difficult to relate to girls her age and is much more comfortable having a kick of the footy with boys. Dillan has an extraordinary dream, but she continues to struggle against society and her father to achieve it. She is not afraid of a fight, but still maintains deep seated doubts about her self worth since her mother abandoned the family when she was 4.
Fred Myers
Sex: Male
Role: Supporting
Age Range: 50 – 60 years
Other: Has the look of a wise but tough coach/mentor character
Breakdown: Fred was a football lover from before he was born and a player from before he could walk. He grew up in the bustling miner’s colony of Bendigo but moved to the big smoke of Melbourne as soon as he finished school. He was drafted in the AFL at 20 and played half a season before being so severely injured doctors told him he would never play again. Not realising Dillan is a girl, he sets into motion events that will change Dillan’s life and eventually lead him to become her mentor and friend. Fred believes in fair play, in working for what you want and in never giving up. However it is out of guilt that he initially supports Dillan in her quest to become a professional footballer – his own daughter had wanted a similar career but he had ignored her wishes and she ran away from home, never to return.
