Director Lynn Trainor will be holding reading of Sylvia at the Theatre on Monday 13th August at 7.30pm. Followed by auditions by appointment on Monday 20th August.
Rehearsals will commence the weekend beginning September 22nd - days to be mutually decided.
GREG - business man suffering midlife crisis; children have left home.
KATE - his wife, a high school teacher, enjoying the empty nest.
SYLVIA - a stray dog that picks up Greg in the park; to be played by a female who is light and lithe. (Greg has to carry her and she needs to have flexible knees and legs).
TOM/PHYLLIS/LESLIE - to be played by one male actor. Tom is the macho owner of a male dog. Phyllis is an alcoholic friend of Kate's. Leslie is a psychotherapist of indeterminite gender - but obstensibly female.
THE PLAY IS SET IN MANHATTAN AND ALL CHARACTERS NEED A PLAUSIBLE AMERICAN ACCENT. ALL NEED TO BE ABLE TO SING IN TUNE.
Those wishing to audition should prepare a short piece in an American accent. Two minutes is ample.
