SANTA'S SPACE CHRISTMAS
A PANTOMIME FOR ALL AGES
A Community Theatre Production.
While on holiday to the South Pole, Nicholas Claus is kidnapped by the aliens Zit and Zot to take back to their planet as a Christmas present for their leader, Queen Snottygobble. The alien planet of Qwertyuiop has a rather warped interpretation of Christmas where presents, cards, wrapping paper,tinsel, mountains of food and drink are more important than the idea of friends and families getting together to share time together. Throw in an assortment of other characters such as the villianous Lady Vermin who plots to overthrow the monarch, the soon-to-be crowned new leader Princess Layby, Spot the Monster, Hans Knees a German Postman, the Easter Bunny, penguins and plenty of revolting peasants, and you have a show full of fun, mayhem,dastardly deeds, saccharine songs and some rather awful old gags. Everything a Panto should be!
Most of the roles for this production will be filled in-house within ARENA, but we are looking for extra people to play the characters of :
NICHOLAS CLAUS. (Female Role, 16-30yrs) Yes, being Panto, this is the Principal Boy character. Strong, energetic, enthusiastic, honest, sincere and earnest, this lead role portrays a young Nicholas,
all-round good guy, who dons the traditional Santa Suit with beard and rotund padding to become Santa Claus every Christmas. We need a strong performer with (somewhat)singing abilities.
QUISLING (Male or Female Role, 16-35yrs). The offsider of Lady Vermin, the play's villian. Boo! Hiss! A
devious, skulking, quirky underling, not all that bright. A great character role for someone with a flair for comedy.
PUDDLES. (Male or Female Role, 16-30yrs). An elf. A meek little individual with low elf-esteem problems and a weak bladder. Has a solo song! All sixty seconds of it!
CHORUS ROLES. (Male or Female roles, age open) Alien Slaves, also doubling up as other featured cameos of other characters in the play, such as The Easter Bunny, Spot The Monster and Tiddles, the Queen's Bodyguard.
AUDITIONS WILL BE :
WEDNESDAY 21st SEPTEMBER at 7.00 p.m.
THE FIRST READING WILL BE :
FRIDAY 23rd SEPTEMBER at 7.00 p.m.
REHEARSALS COMMENCE THE WEEK AFTER.
AUDITIONEES will need to be available for the FIXED REHEARSALS of SUNDAY NIGHTS and WEDNESDAY NIGHTS, with any additional Rehearsals based on individual availability for other nights.
PERFORMANCE DATES :
Performing on WED 7th DEC, FRIDAY 9th DEC, SAT 10th DEC, WED 14th DEC, FRIDAY 16th DEC, SAT 17th DEC at 8pm, with a Matinee on SUNDAY 11th DEC at 2pm.
