When Mark McPherson first falls in love with Laura, he knows he is in love with a phantom - for Laura is dead. He has come to her flat as Special Investigator to look into the circumstances of her murder. From her portrait, her letters, her personal effects, from the three men who loved her - Waldo Lydecker, brilliant columnist; Shelby Carpenter, her fiance, and young Danny Morgan - he has created an image of a woman who seems tantalisingly alive and real.
To say more would be to spoil the story, but this play, based on the novel by Vera Caspary is guranteed to entertain.
