AUDITIONS—SUNDAY 4TH APRIL, 2004 at 1.30pm
This “occasional fairy tale” is set in the Carpathian Legation in London on the eve of King George V’s coronation in 1911. The Prince Regent of Carpathia invites an attractive American chorus girl for what he hopes will be an illicit fun evening. However he gets rather more than he bargained for !
Many will remember the film of the play, “The Prince and the Showgirl” with Laurence Olivier and Marilyn Monroe in the two lead parts.
Terence RattiganÂ’s superb dialogue makes this a masterpiece of wit. It was originally written at the time of Queen Elizabeth IIÂ’s coronation yet much of the humour is very relevant to todayÂ’s world.
Ailsa is an experienced director and is well known for her historical costume plays, period pieces and comedies.
