Our first auditions will begin on March 11 at 8pm and March 13th at 3 pm in Manly at the Vocal Arts Centre at 10 Wentworth St (right near the Coles grocery store and the Manly public school). Other times can be arranged by contacting us if needs be. The play we are doing is a comedy about a first year art class that goes a bit wrong for the self important portrait model sitting for the class. It is all very light hearted and is rather humorous. It will be a bit dramatic in places and there will be a good bit of dialogue for all of those seeking to get a excerpts for their own acting portfolios. The characters: Each of the student characters will have an alternate character in the film. The alternate characters are not related to the initial one and so the actors ability to play 2 different roles in the same space will be essential (this won’t be all that difficult but do keep in mind that you will have to be 2 new people, not just one) Scott – cocky young guy, reckons he is getting an easy ride by being paid to sit and have people draw his head in art class. (18 -21 years old) Jillian – professor of the art class. A bit quirky, probably a hippy, friendly and mellow, but also knows how to get things done in the art world and doesn’t mess around with anyone’s time. Jade –strong female character. Knows what she wants and is not afraid to ask for it. Claire – very pretty girl, quiet leader, doesn’t speak much, but when she does it makes sense. Her alternate character is flirty, far too friendly and very flattering. Sarah – quiet, boring, but friendly enough. Her alternate character is rather loud and boisterous. Emily – total smart ass, there is one in every class. Quick witted, and tries to be funny-often is. John – openly gay, a bit camp. A very talented artist but is lazy and does not use his talents to their fullest extent. Pick a role and give me an email telling me you want to audition. Or just let me know you are interested and we’ll work out which role is right for you. Hope to see you all at the audition! Contact Mark or Elisa at owl_films@yahoo.com.au or call on 0403 949 216 anytime (but I do like to sleep once in a while)
