Paid Film Work

My team and I have recieved two LINK grants from Screen West and FTI this year and we are currently at various stages of production
for both. One of the films ('Exit Strategy') requires quite a large
cast and we are searching all over for the right people:

We have a small budget and all cast members will be paid an agreed
amount. Please find a description of each character attached.

CHARACTER DECRIPTIONS

CHARACTERS

EBONY

Ebony is in her mid to late twenties, she is an attractive girl with long straight brown hair and green eyes. She is an athletic girl of medium build and moves with grace, poise and confidence. She is neat, tidy and generally well presented with an eye for detail.

Ebony has been brought up by her father as her mother died when she was a little girl. He is grooming her to take over his business one day and she is only now discovering exactly what this entails. She is professional in dealing with his clients even though she is conflicted by what they do. She understands however she cannot show any signs of weakness when dealing with clients and can play the tough, heartless character when needed.

She doesnÂ’t like what she does and is questioning whether she can live the life of the under world. She has discovered there is an alternative, a life with Matt .Through his eyes she sees what could be, the life of normality and stability she yearns for. She is well aware of her sexuality and how to use it and she sees this as what she has to offer Matt.

MR FAHTU

Fahtu is Polynesian, in his forties and is of a large and domineering build. He has the potential to look very scary as well as very loving and kind.

He has worked for Mr. Kildare for over twenty years and is now his right hand man. He is resigned to fact that he has chosen a lifestyle that he can never leave. He has no qualms beating someone up or even killing them if he feels itÂ’s necessary. He doesnÂ’t have anything to lose so has no fear.

He really is the coldest type of person as he can show true affection to a person and then shoot them in the back. He looks out for himself and himself only. He has a way of getting people to trust him when they shouldnÂ’t. He is smart and calculating and is willing to wait till the time is right to get to someone.

MATT

Matt is in his early thirties and is reasonably tall and slender. He is attractive without being gorgeous and has a very unthreatening manner. He isnÂ’t slick and stylish, more casual and unassuming. He is confident and intelligent but has a tendency to get over excited about things.

Being a scientist he comes from a completely different world than Ebony. He loves that she brings an element of excitement and unpredictability into his world. She doesnÂ’t understand his world and he is glad to be with someone that he doesnÂ’t have to talk to about work. He is very compassionate and understanding and knows how to deal with Ebony when she is upset. He is capable of taking control and being strong when she needs him.

KILDARE

Kildare is in his fifties, of medium build with a self assured confidence about him. He has been in the game for a long time and doesnÂ’t suffer fools. He does what he sees necessary to remain at the top, having others do his dirty work for him.

People never question him because they know how brutal he can be and that he has friends in high places.

He has one weakness, his daughter Ebony. He wants her to take over from him one day as top dog. He doesnÂ’t seem to understand why she wouldnÂ’t want the lifestyle he leads. He thinks he knows best and that she just needs to toughen up.

He has a close rapport with Fahtu yet keeps him in check letting him know whose boss when he feels the need. He has however made a fatal mistake, he trusts Fahtu. Fahtu has worked for him for over twenty years and Kildare believes him to be completely loyal, this will be his down fall.


I would like to see confidence and grace, this man needs to be believable as someone who runs the city. He is hard nosed but has warmth to him. This needs to be played in an understated and calm manner with subtle tell tale signs in the body language.

TEMPLAR is an arrogant and cold character, he gives nothing away. He is clinical and business like showing little emotion.

I would like to see this character played with a cold heart, the only time he shows signs of being human are when he finds out the scientist is female. Once again the acting style needs to be natural and understated and body language is the key
MR PINA

Pina is in his early to mid twenties; he is fit and muscular and takes care with his appearance. He has the young, cocky attitude thinking he knows it all.

He is top dog in his circle of friends, bragging and exaggerating to them his many tough boy stories. When it comes to work however he is smart enough to know who not to piss off. He looks up to Fahtu and sees him as a role model, admiring his calmness and callousness in difficult situations. He looks to Fahtu for approval.
