AddressIona Primary School (Buckland Ave, Mosman Park)
A bloody, drunken, dancing, musical orgy is the grand aim of Autonomous Productions’ upcoming performance, “Bacchae”.
This fully re-written version of Euripides’ tragedy “The Bacchae” (easily one of the most exciting plays by any of the three main Greek playwrights) will embrace traditional Greek theatre elements in an essentially modern adaptation.
*****
CASTING up to 5 LEADS and 10 CHORUS (both of mixed gender)
On SUNDAY 5 JANUARY (may hold second audition day late WEDNESDAY 8 if necessary)
From 2.00 PM onward
At IONA PRIMARY SCHOOL (Buckland Ave, Mosman Park – entrance around the corner on Victoria St across from Deli)
For performance season LATE MARCH 2003.
*****
We are not necessarily looking for the most experienced performers but rather those most enthusiastic, industrious, and able to work well in a team.
Due to the playÂ’s subject matter casting will most likely be restricted to those aged between 17 and 25.
Commitment is expected to be 2 rehearsals per week – one for leads and one for chorus (increasing closer to performance dates). First general rehearsal/meeting SUNDAY 12 JANUARY.
“Bacchae” will be the first Greek tragedy undertaken by Autonomous Productions whose last Shakespeare performance “A Midsummer Night’s Dream: Re-Dreamed” played a sold-out season at the Fremantle Town Hall.
CONTACT Malcolm on 0418 613 736 or autonomous@dr.com ASAP to arrange an audition time.
You will NOT be required to prepare an audition piece, though having one may prove beneficial.
