This wicked, funny and joyous play relates the eccentricities of age, art and the celebratory power of the human spirit. It is set in a home for retired musicians and opera singers where three old friends, once the brightest stars of the opera world, are joking and reminiscing. That is - until their tranquillity is shattered by a surprise new arrival.

The play requires four accomplished actors (two men, two women) and is a true four-hander, with all parts of equal weight. All the characters have had successful opera careers and this small world has ensured that they know each other well - perhaps too well. All characters are aged 60+. Note that the play does not require the actors to sing.

Cecily Robson

A largeish woman suffering from forgetfulness and living in the past. Kindly beatific smile. Has a simplistic outlook on life.

Reginald Paget

Self-contained immaculate collar and tie man. Down to earth, pedantic and meticulous with a vicious edge.

Wilfred Bond

Big, untidy and artistic with a lusty attitude to life - a bawdy turn of phrase "vulgar and crude, intellect of a tetse fly but a giver of life."

Jean Horton

Slender, attractive. Has the manner of a grande dame with accompanying insecurities.
