getting it off my chest
Sat, 1 Jan 2000, 11:35 pmFirstly, Happy New Year to all and sundry. Right thats the formalities
out of the way. I have been a subscriber to this forum for some time
and have never really found the need to make a posting myself, however
over the past few days something has been brought to my attention which
has me pissed off!! BIG TIME!!
Anybody that knows me well knows I involve myself with theatre purely
because I love it, so even though the success of "Nuts" at the recent
Finley awards was a pleasant surprise my reasons for directing this
play have nothing to do with personal accolades. Therefore it was a
real nasty shock for me to discover, albeit second hand, that the fact
that "Nuts" had won was passed on to the local press almost a week
before the award was presented. It was my understanding and I'm sure
the understanding of anyone present on the night that only one person
new the results prior to the awards night. Even more disturbing to me
was the fact that neither myself,(the director), nor the President of
K.A.D.S was consulted or made aware that these results were being
passed on. I wish to point out that my grievance is in no way aimed at
K.A.D.S and that this news does not diminish in any way the efforts of
the cast or crew of this production. My real beef is with the self
serving underhanded person or persons who allowed this to happen. I can
only say that I am now glad that the production I am currently involved
with will not be up for adjudication so I won't have to be saddled with
any inuendo or offhand remarks for my involvement.
Yours sincerely. Joe Isaia.
