Apart from all the excitement of the Dramafest, did anyone else happen to notice the article on page 50 of Saturday's "West" headed "Crunch eases for Effie Crump"? Apparently, the company has been given a $40,000 grant from the Arts Development Panel. Yay! Has anyone heard anything else about this??Congrats to the I.T.A. and all the clubs for another raging success of a festival. See you at the "Encore" night - where perhaps the elusive Joe and Teri may make themselves known to all of us!!Jenni

Reprieve for Effies

Spot on Jenni!> Apart from all the excitement of the Dramafest, did anyone else> happen to notice the article on page 50 of Saturday's "West"> headed "Crunch eases for Effie Crump"? Apparently, the company> has been given a $40,000 grant from the Arts Development Panel. Yay!> Has anyone heard anything else about this??If you check the link below, you will find a link to Foss' press release (24/9) about Effies. It would appear they have been allocated $40,000 to assist with their program next year. The press release points out that the decision has been made by the Arts peer assessment panel as a matter of due course and seems to suggest that the Minister has had no direct influence on the matter.Whether or not the letter from the ITA had any direct influence on the decision, Jenny MacNae's reaction to the expression of support from the ITA made it very clear that it was warmly received by members of the profession. Any action that fosters co-operation amongst us and highlights our common interests deserves fulsome praise.CheersGrant
