Great actors, Great fun for Great Film
Sun, 25 June 2006, 01:06 pmHey everyone, I'm doing a short film called Prima Facie about reincarnation and death. It's pretty intense, so I need a some really good actors. I'm a poor student who can barely afford to feed myself so I'll cook you meals in return for this great experience we can all share.
I will be holding auditions over the week. Anyone else who wants to be involved for experience and a great time can email or call me for more information as well. More details below.

Some background info:
This short film explores the supernatural realm of life after death and the connections we make with people even before we are born. This was inspired by a book about past life memories and past-life regressions. The results were inconclusive but interesting, suggesting that we are reborn time and again with the same group of “souls”, explaining how some people feel an affinity for or get along extremely well with people they have just met.
Iris leads a turbulent life of endless arguments with her parents and cold nights alone in her bed. She has insomnia and finds it hard to sleep but when she does, she has happy dreams of her family and her boyfriend by the sea. The dreams are vague and surreal, so she cannot make sense of them. However, when she wakes up, it’s back to her reality – of pain, hurt and alienation. She eventually decides to commit suicide and loses consciousness. To her surprise, she wakes up underwater and swims upwards. Breaking the surface of the water, she sees the beach she has so often dreamed about. She has a flashback of her vague dreams, but in lucid clarity. The flashback montage shows us that Iris, her parents and Matt actually knew each other before she was born. She swims towards the shore. The ending will be somewhat ambiguous to leave the viewers pondering about the nature of the show.

Talents required:
Iris
Iris, the lead role, is a troubled teenager with your typical adolescent problems. She has low body-image and therefore bulimic/anorexic. Her relationship with her parents is volatile and strained. She has been going out with her abusive boyfriend of two years, Matt. She is withdrawn, has few friends and contemplates suicide frequently. You need to be able to cry like a crazy banshee for this role.
Matt
Iris’s boyfriend, an incurable alcoholic, also becomes violent and emotionally abusive. He is irrational and immature.
Jessica
Matt's new girlfriend. All you need to do is make out with Matt. We'll try to get a really cute Matt.
Iris’s parents
Iris’s mother is a prim & proper lady who does not approve of Iris’s relationship with Matt. She is a quiet woman who is greatly saddened by Iris’s self-destructive lifestyle. Iris’s father is a loud boisterous man who has no qualms about voicing his displeasure. He is also stubborn, so most arguments end up in screaming matches and slamming doors. They love Iris but the generation gap is too big and they cannot understand their daughter, just like how she cannot understand them.
Soul #1
This character has a short convo with Iris after she dies. I need a chilled out kind of guy with a nice smile.
Extras
We will need some people to jump in and out of the water in the background, symbolizing the cycle of life and death.

I hope for this to be a challenging and fun experience for everyone. Thanks for your attention. I look forward to hearing from you. :)
Yours Sincerely,
